The music organization Kids Rock The Nation presented 10 guitars to music students from the Tri-State area in conjunction with the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz & Performing Arts. This event took place at the Blue Note Hall with Philadelphia Councilman David Oh, Clef Club Artistic Director Lovett Hines, Kids Rock The Nation Founder Anthony Wild, Kids Rock The Nation Regional, Tony TNT Jones, and other sponsoring musicians including Marlon Merritt, Calvin Weston, and renowned Louisiana blues-man Kenny Neal.
The Kids Rock The Nation organization was created by Blues musician Anthony Wild while recovering from cancer. The organization's purpose is to promote self-esteem through musical performance by recognizing and rewarding potential musical talent in children ages nine to sixteen.
In addition to receiving a guitar the students will receive valuable continuing music instructions, mentoring, and techniques from professional musicians as well as opportunities to perform. These guitars were donated by the Gibson Foundation.
The selected recipients of the instruments were:
Jaden Britton, Justin Griggs, Kaylah Butterfield, Andre Harris, Jaydon Epps, Russell Kirkpatrick, Sir Guy Epps, Leo Stienriede, Cole Freeman, and Luca Weston.
